ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE RANKED METALLICA’S ST. ANGER ON THEIR “50 GENUINELY HORRIBLE ALBUMS BY BRILLIANT ARTISTS” LIST.
The magazine made a list of the “top 50 genuinely horrible albums by brilliant artists” and Metallica’s post-Napster album came in at number 43. They call it a “deeply disappointing album” mentioning the snare drum, of course, but also the straight-from-rehab lyrics by James Hetfield, and how the he songs are unfocused and seemingly unfinished.
The band has continued to defend the album over the years and say it was a way of pushing boundaries and trying new things, although not a ton of the songs from that album usually make it into their set list.
Black Sabbath’s 1995 album Forbidden, which was basically just Tony Iommi collaborating for some reason with the guitar player from Ice T’s group Body Count was number 6 on the list. Pantera also made an appearance at Number 4 with their glam metal album Metal Magic that they released before Phil Anselmo joined the band
So here we metal fans are 20 years later, still asking that same question, is St. Anger really that bad?

ARCHITECTS CALL FOR ARTIST STRIKE OVER VENUES TAKING MERCH CUTS
The band Architects thinks it’s time for an artist strike over venues taking a cut of merch sales.
In case you’re not aware, many of the big venues often take a cut of the merch sales from bands. Architects drummer Dan Searle brought up the fact that bands don’t get a cut of the bar even though the band is the only reason why people are in the venue buying drinks, yet the band must give away part of their profit since the venue supplied a 5x5 section of the floor to have a merch table.

Vocalist Sam Carter followed up saying a Venue in Melbourne took 15% and it took four hours for them to get their merch girl a light.

Do you think this practice of cutting into a band’s livelihood is unfair? Should they have to give away their profits to the venue when the band is the reason there are fans there in the first place?

WHY WASN’T LINKIN PARK’S “LOST” ON THE “METEORA” ALBUM?
Linkin Park’ (kinda) new song “Lost” has been a huge success, debuting at number one on the Billboard Rock and Alternative Airplay Chart, the first rock song to do that in over a decade.
“Lost” is a song that was supposed to be on the Meteora album, which is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this year. Fans mostly agree the song sounds incredible and hearing Chester’s voice all these years after his passing has been bringing fully grown adults to tears, but the question is, this song sounds so good and so complete, why wasn’t it released on the Meteora album
In a new interview with KROQ, Mike Shinoda said the song has not been remixed or remastered, you’re hearing it today exactly as it was recorded 20 years ago. The only reason it didn’t make the album back then was because the subject matter and vibe was too similar to “Numb,” another pretty big song on the album.
Do you think that made the right choice?
