Stranger Things shouts out up-and-coming rock band Metallica
+ MGK regrets his beef with Corey Taylor + a new Bring Me The Horizon song.
It’s been a busssssy couple of weeks (hence why there was no newsletter last week). We just moved into a new house on top of everything else, BUT I was finally able to start season 4 of Stranger Things. I’d love some feedback from you on this newsletter by the way. Do you dig the format? Feel free reply to this thread or reach out on IG or TikTok

STRANGER THINGS SHOUTS OUT UP-AND-COMING ROCK BAND METALLICA
Oh man, I can feel your ass itching after you read that headline. All jokes of course. The Netflix series already drove Kate Bush’s 1985 hit “Running Up That Hill” to the top of the charts and now it appears to be doing the same thing with the Metallica classic “Master of Puppets.”
The song is rapidly climbing Spotify’s viral 50 chart after the character Eddie Munson shreds it during the finale. Joseph Quinn, the actor that plays Munson did actually learn how to play the song’s main riff, but Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo shared that his son Tye actually played the solo for the audio recording. Then apparently Quinn has a guitar body double named Aidan Fisher? I don’t know. I haven’t dug too far because I’ve already found way too many spoilers and I HAVEN’T HAD TIME TO FINISH THE NEW SEASON YET GODDAMMIT.
The rest of Metallica was stoked too. "We were beyond psyched for (show creators Matt and Ross Duffer) to not only include 'Master of Puppets' in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it," the band said on Instagram.
Many metal elitists are attempting to gatekeep the band (you know, one of the biggest metal bands in the world), complaining that “now everyone is going to like them just because they heard them on Stranger Things.” The band posted a very anti-gatekeeping message on TikTok saying “Everyone is welcome to the Metallica family.”
MGK SAYS HE REGRETS HIS FEUD WITH COREY TAYLOR
In case you somehow missed it, the two spent much of last year indirectly taking shots at each other. The story supposedly starts with MGK asking Taylor to do a feature on his record “Tickets To My Downfall” Taylor did, but MGK had some notes for him and Taylor said “fuck that.” Then Taylor calls MGK out on a Podcast. MGK calls Slipknot old and weird at Riot Fest. Which really riled up the rock and metal community .
Now in his new Hulu documentary, “Life in Pink” MGK rehashes the story and says he could have handled it differently. He said “I should have picked up the phone and been like ‘hey dude, why did you say that?’ but instead we all acted ridiculous.”

I can’t WAIT for Corey Taylor’s response. Maybe we’ll finally get to hear that collab track!

BRING ME THE HORIZON - “STRANGERS”
Fucking finally! Bring Me The Horizon has officially released their song “sTraNgeRs.” The song was teased at Malta Fest last May and is now out with a super creepy music video
The title of the song looks like a Spongebob meme, using alternating caps, and I’m sure that will be the new trend every other band is gonna jump on now. (side note: please don’t, it’s super annoying to write that shit in articles).
The track has great throwback emo energy without sounding dated. Lyrically, it’s a song about family and how a room full of strangers (like at a show) can have so much in common. And the creepy music video was actually inspired by the band reaching out to fans to share their mental health journey.
Oli Sykes said "I’m so aware that so many people struggle daily with differing traumas, and just wanted to stress that they’re not in this alone."
